Commentary for August 8, 2022:

Just because Kari-Ya doesn’t really like her family’s business and is resentful towards them for expecting her to play a part in it, it doesn’t mean she wants any harm to come to them. After all, they are her family, and when a deadly foe rocks up to their front door, you’d better believe Kari-Ya’s going to stand up for them. She’s not so far gone that she would abandon them here.
