Not true, actually! The term "Pagan" literally means 'rural'. When Christianity was spreading through Europe originally it was concentrated in the cities, while those in the outlying areas (the Pagans) continued to worship as they had before. Of course, the fun of this is that when Athiesm was in vogue, it was concentrated in the cities and places of learning... so many of the 'pagans' in the country were Christian at a time when the 'citizens' weren't.

Righto, but really getting into the history of so broadly used of a word, its origins and applications? ...too much trouble for me. XP
