Ha'aowk are efficient predators, with their sharp claws and pointed fangs easily able to snatch the small mammals from the branches that they were most evolved to predate upon. Their short wings allowed them unparalleled agility as they flitted through the maze of branches and leaves, the frayed edges on the primary feathers softening the sound of their flight to near silence. Ka'ahkai's bright green eyes narrowed as she spotted the flicker of movement that betrayed the location of her prey, her flight adjusting immediately with a flick of her tail and hindlegs to dive towards the unlucky mammal. Fangs baring in anticipation of the kill, the expectant hunger of a predator about to catch its prey.
silatria has done it once again, putting out an absolutely gorgeous painting of Ka'ahkai in her natural habitat with such a beautifully alive action pose I can track the movement of her flight in the dangling of her legs. There is so much detail in the canopy and the vegetation, it makes me so happy. This is the emergent layer of All-Hollow, where the tallest trees peek out of the canopy.
