This was my most recent large-ish project, which I finished a month ago or thereabouts. It's a spiral-woven chainmail glove. I made it in an interesting way, by making a bunch of long thin chains and wrapping them in a spiral up my fingers and down my palm, and joining rings that were next to each other. It was a simple and visually interesting way of making something that conforms to your skin's curvature.
The green and white rubber rings glow in the dark.
To the left is a photogram I made in the dark room by charging up the glowing rings then laying the glove right on the photographic paper for about a minute. The parts that are crisp were laying flat on the paper, the blurry parts were a bit away from the paper. It's in negative, so the brighter-glowing parts are darker. You can tell that the white rings glow significantly better than the green rings. (Maybe the photographic paper is also more sensitive to the wavelength of light they produce?)
I think this method would be the only method that would let me even consider making a glove for someone else, because it would allow a large portion of the work to be pre-made, then the person getting the piece would just have to sit still for quite a while while I joined things together.
Green and white silicone glow-in-the-dark rings and stainless steel rings, European 4-in-1 weave.
