Let's Go Camping, You Said.
This is a brand-new piece I started back at the beginning of June right after getting back from a dreadfully disappointing camping trip. My friends cancelled at the last second, leaving me no choice but to go alone- or waste the reservation. Not to mention I forgot my tent, leaving me with just an air mattress, and I burnt myself trying to start the fire with accelerant: Some got on my hand when I poured it. On top of all of this, it started to rain right as I finally got things settled into a "this sucks but I'm still gonna have fun, damnit!" state and sat down to roast a delicious hot s'moe. Of course, rain was not on the forecast, or I would not have reserved a campsite in the first place... This is just how the part of Oregon I live in behaves. I drove home at 9 PM because I had no tent and there was not enough room in my car to both sleep and protect my stuff at the same time. Needless to say, this piece is an embodiment of my struggles.
I got advice from a couple friends while making this piece, which I would say is the primary reason why her face looks so presentable. My previous iterations were exponentially more hideous. Shading and backgrounds are tough, but I think I did a "good enough" job in this piece... By the way, she's nobody in particular- I just wanted to draw a husky goil!
While it's not my magnum opus, this irritated husky woman encapsulates what I felt surprisingly well. I'm honestly just glad to be done with it, after a month and a half of on-and-off work...
