Once back at the cabin, Shadow quickly got a fire going. While waiting for it to build up enough to warm the cabin he paced around in an agitated state. Still frustrated by the villager's actions and Maria's condition. He had hoped to get at least some form of aid from them, but was now left with no next course of action.
He stood in the middle of the cabin, his tail flicking back and forth angrily, before lifting his head and let out a powerful roar that shook the entire cabin. He clenched his teeth as regained his composure, looking down at Maria in his arms. Her breathing still slow and shallow.
He looked at her for a moment before falling to his knees in front of the fire and clutching her to himself. Rubbing his forehead against hers in his now trembling arms. He was frustrated and angry at himself for not knowing how to help her. As he held her careful in his arms, tears ran down his face as he silently begged for her to open her eyes.
