South Korean Town (Ode to Yeonpyeong) Original Fox Music
So I was on an image board when I first heard about this attack. This is some really scary shit!
I was inspired to write this song after reading some of the few news articles that were out at the time ( I wrote this at around 2:00am Seattle time Nov 23) This was the picture I was looking at: http://www.reuters.com/article/slid.....YS20101123#a=1
I apologize for the lower than usual quality of this recording. I am in the process of moving at the moment and I had to unpack my mics and everything and record this at 3 in the morning.
Lyrics:
The bomb shells fall on a little South Korean town
White and black clouds drift up from the smoky ground
And there ain't much noise from the onlooking terrified crowd
It's just the northerners again, no one knows what they're doing anyhow.
The people all scatter on the rumbling South Korean streets
Innocent lives carried on the very soles of their feet
The screaming of the children echo as hearts start to beat.
The world watches white knuckled with visions of cold war in heat.
All eyes are now fixed on a little South Korean town
With their houses a-burning and there buildings burning down to the ground
It's been 57 years and still no solution can be found
The whole world watches wondering what will happen now.
In case you want to link this to some non-furs here is the YouTube I put up for this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUjmEQBIsDU

I do believe the Koreas are the closest thing the world has to a lose-lose situation. The whole conflict was "Damned if you do, damned if you don't" from the start, both the North and the South have an atrocious human rights record (the South's a little better at covering it), and our involvement at the DMZ has both helped the cease fire and stoked the tensions to this point for 54 years.
There are other elements at play here, but I won't go into that. The whole thing is a massive cluster bomb of fail.
I hope the world can find a way to diffuse this without total war.

Yeah, I a am somewhat familiar with the situation though my knowledge is mostly 6 years old at this point since most of it came from researching the nuclear situation there for a critical issues class. I am sure both sides have that their role to play in thing though in this case, shelling a town of civilians seems like a poor choice of consequence for refusing to stop a harmless military exercise. The other thing that worries me greatly is the idea that this might have the potential to go nuclear. Right now I think China might be our best shot at putting some sense back in the area. I might not be too happy with some of the things their government has been doing lately but if nothing else a war would be bad business for them.
The only good thing is that North Korea's nuclear weapons program is not that well developed. Not that a "small" nuke isn't something to be concerned about, but it took them a long time to produce a very small bomb.
I don't know why China hasn't tugged the leash good and hard already, or what they have to gain by letting them be as aggressive as they have been. All China would have to do to completely cripple North Korea is close their borders. It's Chinese money and goods that keep the North alive, pretty much.

Unfortunately a fair amount of my stuff deals with sad topics. For whatever reason it seems to be the only thing I am ever inspired to write about. I think it's mainly out of a need to apply some self therapy by actually writing about things that upset me. Thank you, I am glad that you liked it.
