Vakkert Sedd is a world of opportunities and lives of all stripes. I've talked before about one of my friends Aqunos who works as a nightblade, though I managed to get my claws on another recently who walks on the opposite side of the truly impressive scale of morality those on Sedd may follow.
Senka is... a strange one, I'm not sure what kind of creature he is, the best guess I had was that he's a hybrid of a weasel-like species and a lizard-like species. I met him while I was out on errand one night, actually robbing a local bank in the Cathedral City. I don't think too highly of thieves admittedly, so I set off after him, only for him to elude every attempt I had to sense him out, even to my vision that lets me sense souls. Such was baffling to me, so as I often do, I set off searching for him to sate my curiosity further. The trails of information I had eventually led me to the same port-city that Nimeria lives in, where I encountered him again, and more curious than angry at his thievery, asked after him... only for some of the locals, innocent civilians and children, to block me off from chasing him. There was more going on here, so I took the chance to ask -them-.
Apparently, Senka was rather braggadocious about being a "master thief from a long line of master thieves", he was an ally to the common folk because he saw no challenge in stealing from civilians. Criminal masterminds, corrupt authorities and higher powers were his prey of choice, for both the haul and the challenge of penetrating security like that, both technological and magical. Every time he fenced a particularly valuable good, the lion's share of the profits would go to the locals, especially those in dire straights who were having trouble getting out of the hole and endearing him to them like a modern day Robin Hood. Learning this about him quickly deflated any desire I could have to bring him to justice (and raised questions about the bank I initially saw him stealing from) but that still didn't answer a question; why was he invisible to my sight, when my sight can see souls?
It was only after a little while longer I finally got to meet him in person. He was surprisingly laid back, I would call him almost cocky and prideful, but one look at one of his treasures on the wall of his hideout told me why; one of Hephaestus' hammers. This strange hybrid had stolen from a God, and not just any God, but an Olympian, and had yet to be tracked down and suffer any retaliation for making a victim of one of the most petty and petulant Pantheons on Sedd. I admit I was shocked, and he picked up on that. He told me pretty plain that the Gods were the biggest game there was for a thief to steal from, and it was his goal to eventually heist an item from every Pantheon's head God without any help. When I asked what he meant by 'help' he removed one of his gloves to show a familiar symbol among several - he was a Favored; a mortal that one or more Gods took interest in because of their deeds. Though I didn't recognize the symbol at first of what looked like a golden scorpion stinger, I recognized the magic immediately; this thief had the blessings and protection to commit his acts of trickery and theft by that lovingly tricky Zorgoia, Zephyr.
When I said that name he tilted his head, and when I confirmed Zephyr was one of my personal close friends, he relaxed around me even more, no longer seeing me as any kind of threat. Zephyr didn't have a particularly high opinion of other Gods, so I suppose it's not surprising when a thief of his skill decided to set eyes on them, Zephyr was there to back him up. That explained why he was truly undetectable, Zephyr's blessing was likely hiding him from magical sight to make up for him being a mundane, yet exceptionally skilled, mortal. He seemed to, in his own way, be genuinely loyal towards Zephyr, but mentioned that all of these incursions and break-ins were practicing for a truly impossible feat - to disable Zephyr's blessings and steal from top Gods like Zeus, Odin and the Lord of Light and get away with it, with nothing but his own mortal skill and cunning, to make sure he's remembered as THE thief (if he accomplished this, I'm fairly sure the Primal Beings would make him a God of the Thieves on the spot, but he didn't seem aware of or didn't care about that).
Seeing a bit of potential to knock some of the smug Pantheons down a notch by stealing their security away from them, I bid Senka farewell and wished him luck in his goals... with a warning on the side that if he ever stole from me (I'm charitable to begin with, so I doubt I'd be a target... but I am a dragon) Zephyr wouldn't be able to bless him hard enough to save him, and cheerily bid him farewell to psyche him out a bit, before flying off.
Such a curious creature, I'll be interested to hear of his accomplishments from Zephyr later.

I refuse to admit I have a new character problem.
So then! I saw Corrie selling this guy and we both chatted a bit about how both of us were hugely inspired in a lot of ways by Sly Cooper, so when I saw the idea was for this character to be a thief-y sort, I decided to take them in a very close but slightly different direction. So here we have Senka! Who steals from the wealthy and corrupt, criminal masterminds, but also goes a step above by stealing from the highest marks possible in gods. This guy will likely be another character that shows up a lot more in worldbuilding than he does in art, but that doesn't mean that I won't involve him or have him star in some pieces.
Senka belongs to me!
