slowly trying to bring new life to my old childhood characters.
This is Nick, he's a numbat & mailman.
I kinda like to think about island society in the bandicoot world, I kinda feel like there should be SOME infrastructure there. Especially when later games in the franchise kinda confirm that there are some neutral parties around the islands that aren't strictly part of Cortex's ilk (be they rejected, escaped or something else) or part of the islander people's villages. I don't really like Mind Over Mutant much, but I did like how it had collections of mutants just living freely, implied to have villages (but we never really see them, radical do these guys just live out in the open all the time? c'mon) & I like some of the concept art of Twinsanity where they had villages of evolved animals & well farmer Ernest being a thing, even saying there's a farmers market somewhere on the islands.
Anyway, here's part of my attempt to fill in some blanks for important societal roles around the island.
Nick is very friendly, cheery, peppy, sporty, motivational & energetic. He takes his job as courier & mailman very seriously, priding himself on getting everything where it needs to be on time. When not running about the islands making deliveries, he's running about the islands keeping himself fit. He's a bit of a health freak & will often like to challenge Crash to an on-foot race or something else sporty, just to see the bandicoot be active as Crash spends so much time lazing about & napping when not saving the world.
Nick is also a bit of a fraidy-cat though, disliking when he needs to bring mail to Cortex Castle island, which tends to be some of the faster deliveries he makes just out of a will to be in & out as fast as possible, that place scares him. Nick also very much isn't hero material like the bandicoots are. He just does his job & makes the best of his days peacefully on the islands, that hero stuff is far too much for him. though he will encourage the bandicoots on their missions to save the world, he doesn't really like thinking about what should happen if Cortex or someone else manages to come to power.
He was created by Cortex pretty much solely for the purpose of being a delivery boy, there wasn't much else to really do beyond evolving him & saying "hey you're the mailman now, go do mail" & that was that.
Nick numbat belongs to me!
