The technique is really easy to learn, it just takes practice to get it to look right. Basically, just draw a line, then draw another line parallel to it. Every now and then branch off, but make sure the lines never touch. It's that simple. Keeping the lines the same widths apart consistently is the hardest thing about it. Of course, doing this has helped my lineart (some).
With this one, I was basically playing around. I first drew that tiny circle in the center, then kept on drawing lines around it. When I reached the main big ball shape, I realized I liked how it looked so much, I didn't want to just continue the design to the outer edge, so I sketched a ring around it and made it look like another design around the edges was holding the big circle in place. Neat, huh?
