Sorry it took me so damn long to get this out, guys. I had some writer's block because I didn't know how I wanted Wesley to react. At least, I couldn't come up with any details or good reason why he would act the way he should...
I ended up having an epiphany on the plane back to San Diego from Washington. It occured to me that Wesley would not be at ALL sympathetic to the bastards without good reason. And he would have no reason to trust Ryon at all until he had the right answers.
I've been reading a lot of different books by good authors like Orson Scott Card and Micheal Chrichton to get a good idea of what sort of descriptors the reader is looking for. Because, if you think about it, both of those authors wrote stories that weren't necessarily new ideas at the time, and were in fact fairly cliche. But, THEY'RE GOOD BOOKS! Why? Because of how well they make you fit into the shoes of the protagonist. You know and feel everything they are feeling as if you were there, almost as if you were the character or at least a loved one of the character.
I want to have the ability to do that with my characters and it through me into a writer's block because my previous writing style is so bland and non-descriptive and there's an amazing world that I desperately want to share.
You will see soon what I mean.
Happy reading. ^^
