Why am I hugging Godzilla? Specifically why am I hugging the trendmasters Godzilla toy?... Let me tell you.
As a kid, I had an obsession with dinosaurs, bugs, snakes, nature, all that good stuff. One day, I went to my cousins house to play with him. Entering the house, he invited me to watch TV with him...and there it was. The first time I had ever seen a Godzilla movie. The memory is very hazy...I just remembered seeing a giant praying mantis wondering in the dark. After that, I was hooked. Giant dinosaurs and bugs? Awesome! After the movie, he showed my his Trendmasters Godzilla toys. He had the rare color variants too...I was introduced to monsters like MechaGodzilla, Gigan (who quickly became my favorite). Biollante, Mothra, and more. What did I end up going home with? He gifted me his bendy Trendmasters Godzilla... a beautiful Turquoise blue with glowing red eyes.
After that day, I was on a mission to see as much of Godzilla as I possibly could, browsing late night TV guides, video stores (thanks for all the help hollywood video!). Anything I could find.
It wasn't until many years later that I realized the film he had been watching was "Son of Godzilla", specifically the scene when they first realize the giant mantis, known as kamakaris, was prowling the island. I collected Godzilla toys, games, ANYTHING I could find.
Today, I have seen every Godzilla movie ever made..and Gamera too!
While I've moved on from collecting Godzilla, I will forever have a soft spot in my heart for him. He remains to this day my childhood hero!

I recently got back into Godzilla after watching the monsterverse movies with my dad last year before my deployment. At the time, my interest with Godzilla was kinda just gone, though i remember the Hanna-Barbera, TAS Zilla, and the heisei design when i was little, but watching those monsterverse movies with my dad really sparked my interest in Godzilla again to the point i look up every toho Godzilla movie i missed (which was almost all of them, lmao) and started collecting Godzilla merchandise.
