Thormundar - Helena, the Scoutmaster
A noble of the Hadriga nation of Zhatvagrod, Helena serves as the nation's scoutmaster, keeping tabs on developments in Zhatvagrod's neighbours and going on regular trips into the wilds with the troops of Zhatvagrod. While her brother and the Prince of Zhatvagrod, Radov, advocates a policy of isolationism and secession from Kaleva, Helena espouses a policy of cooperation with the nation's neighbours.
One of the older characters of Thormundar who was due for a piece, I first designed Helena's current iteration in 2017. For a while, this piece was put in the backburner and was in danger of joining the other pieces of Helena in the dusty crevices of the WIPs folder, but a chance listening to a new podcast inspired me to pull it out and finish the piece eventually.
The painting itself is inspired by stills of the 2008 Finnish movie, Sauna, as well as artwork from Magic's Shadowmoor and Eventide expansions.
