A warm, fond if somewhat hesitant smile crossing her face, the witch shyly looks away as she holds her only hand out towards you as if in offering, maintaining eye contact still difficult for her even now as her gaze occasionally flickers towards you before swiftly averting. A soft, bright bluish glow radiates from the diamond-shaped runic symbol on her palm, and you watch on in wonder as before your very eyes, small buds, stems, and leaves suddenly begin to sprout out from within. Using her magical talents and her connections with the natural world, Senna incites and encourages life to grow and flourish despite the quiet desolation of this land all around. The bare, leafless trees reaching out to the grey, haze colored skies with gnarled, finger-like branches, the forest empty and silent with barely a sign of any other living thing within miles...
A miracle that seems like it might be otherwise impossible in a place like this is happening right in front of you. All within the palm of her hand, and done so effortlessly too as the plant gradually swells larger and larger before appearing to reach maturity, the buds slowly opening up to reveal a cluster of beautiful, soft hued purple flowers. They still glow clearly and brightly from the magical energy flowing into and throughout them as they rest there, drawing from the reservoir of power that enables them to grow, prosper, and exist. As if they were a sort of hopeful beacon within the dead stillness of the surrounding environment, that perhaps this place wasn't beyond saving just yet, that life still had a chance to return and flourish with enough time, care, and patience...
They're hydrangeas, you recognize. The very deliberate choice of such flowers and their delicate, light purple color wordlessly conveying the witch's heartfelt intentions and message through the symbolism and language associated with them... In a way that she knew very well and understood better than just words alone...
'Thank you for understanding.'
A super lovely piece featuring my witch-druid monster deer(?) creature Senna, showing her happiness and gratitude in a way that she knows best! I love how this one came out, especially the details like the glow effects around the leaves and flowers in Senna's hand and the beautifully done shading, highlights, and rendering! I thought this would be a bit of a challenging piece to do when I'd first pitched the idea, but I'd say the artist did a super nice job regardless!
As a quick aside, I'll say that flower language is definitely a very interesting subject to delve into. Learning how different species of flowers and their particular colors have certain symbolic meanings to them, and even how combining different ones together can send a certain kind of message whether it's of love, friendship, hatred, etc. It's very fascinating stuff if you'd like to learn more about it! And, of course, having such close connections with the natural world and all of the flora and fauna within it, naturally Senna would have pretty extensive knowledge about the language of flowers and such!
This wonderful art piece was done by the equally wonderful artist
Casty! I'll admit, I wasn't entirely certain of how this would come out when I'd given them the character and the general idea, but Casty did an absolutely superb job of rolling with it and illustrating it in a way that really hit all of the right beats and resonated best with what I had in mind! Thank you so much again for everything and for the great art as always! I absolutely recommend them if you're looking for someone to get some excellent quality art from, they're good at what they do and will work with you to make sure the piece comes out how you like it! They do icons and other types commissions, as well YCHs every so often, so keep an eye out for when they have slots open if you want to get one yourself~ <33

oh, the description of the picture is mesmerizing... How much of your time is spent on such a beautiful text? By the way, what happened to the world around Senna? Did it all burn down, or was it like that from the beginning? Will the trees never grow leaves and the grass never grow again??🥺
Oh thank you so much!! I'm so very glad that you think so, and I appreciate the kind words! As far as how much time... I honestly can't say for sure, for this one I'd say... about 45 minutes to an hour? It's hard to really tell, I honestly just write what comes to mind with the picture for inspiration until I feel it's good enough to be finished, haha~ ^^ ;;
As for what happened... Well, I like to leave it up to a bit of interpretation. Maybe a wildfire swept through the forest and left it completely destroyed, or perhaps the area had become so tainted with pollution, poisons, and such that nothing grows there anymore. But regardless of what happened, there's hope that it can be recovered and flourish again, which is why Senna came to such a place to begin with. She sometimes finds dead, withered forests and such like this during her worldly travels, and as a being who shares a close connection with the wilds and the flora and fauna, she takes it upon herself to care for and tend to such places. Using her magic, sewing new seeds, and conjuring replenishing rain, she coaxes energy and life to flow back into the ruined land so that it can grow anew and be gradually restored over time. That was the sort of inspiration that I felt when I got this piece, and I decided to roll with it!
Thank you so very much for your comment, of course! I really do appreciate it a lot~ <33

This is quite a lot of time, I'm glad that you describe the paintings as if they were separate stories, you are great 💖
Oh, is Senna all alone in this terrible, dead world? Or are there other inhabitants of this world? In other words, I'm happy with the uncertainty itself, allowing me to build more theories about what happened! I hope that someday this world will bloom again!

Awwww, you're too sweet... Thank you so much again! I'm not a professional writer by any means, I just like writing little stories and such like this for fun when the inspiration strikes, really. It always makes me very happy to hear that people do read and appreciate them, though!
Ah, there are plenty of other inhabitants in this world. This is something of an alternate sort of world that I made for my characters, but I am still ironing out a lot of the details of it! But in this world, Senna is a wanderer and a hermit who shuns civilization and other people and favors the quiet solitude of the natural realms and the company of the plants and animals around her. It's quite a lonely existence in some respects, yes, but Senna is fearful and paranoid of other people who might see her as a 'monster' because of her appearance and would have her hunted and persecuted. She does have a deep desire to try and make friends with others, but at the same time she's also very scared of having her life and home threatened by outsiders.
I'm hoping to get more art pieces done with Senna in the future, I'd like to share more stories about her and expand more on who she is as a character and her role in the world she lives in~ :3

“My many thanks to you yet again, young one… Your kindness truly knows no bounds, and I am eternally grateful that you show me such goodwill rather than prejudice or contempt as many others have before. I would be pleased to be able to call you something of a friend… if it is what you desire.” - Senna
Hehe, thank you so much!! I’m really so happy with how nicely this piece really came out, Casty always does a wonderful job and their artwork is just amazing every time! Would definitely recommend checking them out and giving them a follow if you like the look of their stuff, for sure~ 😊
