I wonder if your thoughts will mirror mine on just how nice this looks. ^^
We’re back at the Great Plains Nature Centre, where
UrsusArctos very kindly took my during my stay with him back in May this year. Living near to a river for most of one’s life, one gets to thinking where all that water comes from, and where it all ends up. Some of the maps I most enjoy looking at are of watersheds, and the knowledge they provide that one can go to a specific place, drop two droplets of water only feet apart, and know that they might end up many thousands of miles away from each other, just because they have been dropped in two different watersheds, leading to different streams, different rivers, and perhaps different oceans. It may not surprise some of you to know that the entirety of the state of Kansas lies within the wider watershed of the Mississippi via the Arkansas River, and one wonders how long it would take the water in this little lake to find its way to eventually drain its way to the Gulf of Mexico.
