Maelstrom knew in her heart that she really didn't have what it takes to be a pirate. Not a real pirate, anyway.

But, from the time she was a cub living inland, she dreamed about adventures at sea aboard a pirate ship. Hunting for treasure, seeing the world without rules or boundaries to confine her.

Reality set in when she reached adulthood and encountered real pirates for the first time. They did not live up to the romantic expectations she'd created in her mind.

It wasn't until years later when a chance encounter gave her the opportunity to take command of a ship of her own. Named for her mother, Kasperia, the ship now sails under Maelstrom's flag. She is living the dream.
