For a while, I entertained an idea for a sequel to NA where Flickie turns to dark magic. Catt dies, and he relies on Necromancy to find her soul. However, the darkness of the craft consumes him, leaving him immortal, bitter and twisted. Catt's ghost finds him and eventually they have a happily ever after, but at a steep price.
For my world, Necromancy is forbidden magic. It turns ghosts and decaying matter into slaves of the Necromancer, and can result in the deletion of the spirits used if the Necromancer isn't careful. Which, most Necromancers enter the craft determined to be good people, but all become consumed by what lured them to the power in the first place, and forget that the souls they rely on in battle are or were living people. Or, more accurately: they stop caring. Each becoming the villain on their own hero story.
And that's what the sequel was about. Flickie living long enough to witness himself becoming the villain.
