Finally finished it! It kept on getting pushed aside for other small projects, but I finally finished it at Krio's while watching the 3 disc special edition AVATAR dvds. 8D

Aspect of Balodius Event Challenge for Windsonde of dA!

My response: Quinlan sneaks into the event to dance with the jewelry maker that he had met before, if he could even find her.

Daine was so excited for the dance- in previous years, she had been stuck gathering trinkets with her cousins. But this year, being her first year of being an adult, she was allowed to join in on the ball. She took her time making her mask from pheasant and wild hen feathers, strings of dyed wooden beads to wind around her neck and tail, and raffia bracelets. All were done with autumn colors in mind, though no particular animal in mind.
But once she had them all on, it was missing something. After voicing her concern, her parents dug out the feather paint that her mother had stopped using after she was mated, and they together painted a moth false eye design onto their young's feathers. Happy with the addition, Daine barely remembered to say goodbye to her parents before tearing out to the border between Grandesque and Twistoult where the ball was to be located.
She didn't care that she was early, but she enjoyed watching the last of the preparations were done as well as helping whenever she could. She even helped fix a few paper lanterns that were set up on a path near the main dance pavilion for any couples that wanted a little privacy while dancing or socializing.
She had fun, flirting with those that she could tell were male, as well as some those she couldn't tell, just because it was amusing. Despite the flirting, she hadn't found a good dancing partner. That was until a tabby-colored gryph with a firebird mask caught her eye. Intrigued at the costume, she came closer to admire while flirting to keep the gryph close.
It ended up that she enjoyed his company more than the others for more than just his mask. She fluffed up with glee once he asked for a dance, nodding vigorously while making her pheasant tail feathers catch so much wind that her mask came off, giving the other gryph a quick look at her face before she was able to fix it, embarrassed at her blunder. Luckily he didn't seem to mind-instead he seemed even more friendly! Making sure that she wouldn't embarrass herself more around the older gryphs though, she invited him to the paper lantern area that she had helped set up earlier.
There they danced the rest of the night away, performing intricate flights around the Twistlout trees and stunning displays on the ground, Daine using the feather paint to make her wing movement even more memorable.
But what was even more memorable was when they took off the masks!
