Assuming that I have no way to tell fantasy from reality, I have my own starship. It is named Wendigo -- from the Algonkian spirt. Unfortunately, it is a rather nasty character, including a desire to eat human flesh, but I just liked the sound of the word. Although, I suppose I could say that it metaphorically "ate" me when I threw in my lot with Saara and the Dalmirin. In any case, I designed my own ship. it was made to be comfortable to my own tastes, not to seem very alien. The upper section detaches, for landing, just like in Star Trek and Fireball XL-5! The insides are larger than the outer hull, a trick performed with manipulating time-space in ways that are impossible as far as anyone knows. But if a Tardis can do it, so can Wendigo. The more I reminisce over this old drawing, the more less I have use for reality. Phooey on reality! In any case, I can't date the drawing. I never meant it as a formal work of art, and didn't date it. It has never been seen before, either. As best as I recall, I likely drew it in the mid 1990s.

Were you inspired by the Amtronic model kit for this one?
I pretty much love that design of yours!!

Yeah! I remember reading in Heinlein's novel "Friday," that there was a profitable interplanetary transporter captain who had her ship built to resemble some sort of "Steampunk" style version of a functioning spacecraft with boiler plates riveted on the hull and fancy grille works. When asked why her ship was built that way, the captain replies, "Because the other ships look like a hat rack F***ing a Christmas tree."
Less than you'd think. The parent starship -- Saara's "Skyros" didn't look like that, and mine derives from Saara's. In a way, Wendigo was built similar to some starships that I built using L'Eggs containers, one of which was a smaller and a larger egg-shapped combination similar to Wendigo. Wendigo is more streamlined, however.
