Yes, it is true. The man you see here is the one and only Ebon Jackal.
This was one of the reasons I wanted to do some photography while I stayed in Olmstead. There's so much open land and beautiful scenery. This particular patch is actually one of the many corn fields my grandfather once worked on year after year. It hasn't been planted in for a couple of years now, so it looks more like a graveyard for crops, but it still made for a cool backdrop.
The reason I'm standing with a sword? I wanted this image to explore a side of my inner self that very few ever get to see. I usually scoff and chuckle when people tell me I'm brave, but the more I think of it the harder that part of me is to deny. I know when to step away from a situation, that much is true, but if I can fight then I will fight tooth and nail to get the outcome I desire.
I dunno. Maybe the image is contrived. Feel free to drop your thoughts on it.

I miss those type of fields. Got some pretty good substitutes in England but the weather's usually too wet to get a good pic like this.
I generally don't think of myself as brave either, until I've actually gotten into a crisis situation. Done some pretty stupid stuff but people are alive because of it so I guess it works out.
Where may I ask was the sword obtained from?

Funny story behind that sword, actually.
I was in Mexico with a mission group a few summers back, and we spent our Saturday in a small marketplace. Well, there was a man running a small shop that sold all types of metalworks, from belt buckles to weapon replicas. And yes, the mission group let me return home with a fake weapon in the van.
