first 2 pages to the first version of my first fugue. If you can play this - take a video and send it to me! It is VERY difficult and I have trouble playing it myself (yes I am aware of the irony that I cannot play a piece I made lol)

What instrumentation did you have in mind? I could hear this being played on a pipe organ easily enough as a duet, but it lends itself well to woodwind quartet, or possibly chamber strings.
Some interesting harmonies going on in there as well between the parts that I can see... occasional dissonance but nothing persistent. I presume there are some embellishments that would appear later on in the piece? A duet on harpsichord is another possibility...
Either way, I like the basic idea. Nice to see something other than cookie-cutter electronic music being put up on FA.

thanks, I very much appreciate the feedback!
Like JS Bach's Art Of The Fugue Fugues, these are really written with no particular instrumentation in mind. However, since the piece has some longer notes in some very important areas (such as the soprano part when the fourth voice is introduced) the piece sounds best (imo) on instruments capable of sounding sustained notes. This was actually an assignment for my composition class and I had a string quartet preform the piece. The piece also sounds great on the pipe organ and keyboard (organ settings) and of course ANY set up of woodwinds.
If you are looking for some music more suited for "plucked" instruments (like the harpsichord) then you might be interested in the Invention I am composing for Tuesday. It is being composed with these instruments in mind (as directed).

Ah, very nice :) Been a while since I've really done anything purely Baroque, Classical, or Romantic... mostly because I desperately want to buy the Vienna Symphonic library of samples for writing orchestral/accoustic music with. Sounds so great.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing the rest of the Fugue up on here!

awesome! I am glad my music brings you something =]
Also, if you don't have others to play this with, you can record yourself playing each voice and combine them together on the computer! It's really cool to see yourself interpret each voice at the same time =]
enjoy.
