Fanart suggestion from my Patron; Defender 9 to 5.
I decided to try a new style for this one that sort of mixed my own style with the style of the game. It was honestly a lot more fun than my usual more realistic style!
If anyone doesn’t recognise this; this is Gregg from Night in the Woods.
I was playing through again recently and this scene hurt me.
I often think about whether or not I’m a good person and I feel all the pain and guilt hit me before I ever reach the true answer. Maybe life makes being a good person much harder and we all end up feeling ashamed in the end, even if we did our best. Maybe that’s a little negative.

In the vast majority of cases, I find that there is no such thing as a truly "good" or "bad" person; we all live on an ever-fluid spectrum of goodness/badness that is extremely and absolutely subjective on not only our own point of view, but other people's as well. What might seem wrong to one could very well be seeming good to someone else. And sometimes, someone might do something bad without realizing it, or wanting to.
Not to mention good people doing something wrong for the wrong reasons, and bad people doing something good for the right reasons... and any combination of those you can think of.
I believe, however, that as long as you can see both sides of someone's actions, chances are they are a good person - just not good to a given person/group.
The scientist who does experiments on animals in order to cure a deadly disease - are they a good person or not? If you ask those afflicted by the disease, then the scientist is a truly magnificent individual. But if you ask animal rights activists, that scientist is a monster. How can someone both be a "magnificent individual" and a "monster", at the same time?
So yeah...
I believe that nearly everyone is, one way or another, a good person. Some people are irredeemable, unfortunately. It does happen.
But the rest of the people? Shades of grey. Very subjective shades of grey.
And if it's worth anything, so far, I don't think you're a bad person - agreed, I don't really know you so I can't say for sure, but... As far as strangers are concerned, you seem alright. And the fact that you somehow feel pain and guilt tells me that you ARE a good person - a truly bad person wouldn't feel guilt over anything wrong they might've done.

I don't think there is ever a clear cut answer to reach to begin with.
And we will always fall short of out current aspirations - otherwis they wouldn't be aspirations. I'd even argue that having aspirations to become a better person than we are right now is an important trait of a good person.
But that doesn't mean we have to be ashamed. We are allowed to be proud of the progress we have made so far - that doesn't invalidate our desire for further growth.
And that is what it's all about, I'd say. Not to "be" a good person with no bad traits at all, but rather about growing in that direction, to the best of our abilities and capacities.
