before you let your drinking buddies down at yon olde tavern goad you into accepting a quest to slay a dragon, make sure to take careful heed of the following contextual cues:
1. are your friends quietly sniggering into their ale and surreptitiously slapping each other on the back?
2. is the word "DANGER" printed on the quest form, and if so, is it emphasized by bold letters and upwards of thirteen exclamation points?
3. does the dragon's title include variations on one or more of these epithets: "the world-ender," "the sky-breaker," "mightiest of the mighty," or "the ridiculously overpowered"?
4. do people begin speaking of you in a disconcertingly past tense, even while you're in the same room?
if you find at least one of the above has occurred, it is in your best interest to decline the quest.
waldo the warrior was, unfortunately, too drunk to notice any of it, and so he was understandably shocked when he scaled the mountains of moderate mayhem and confronted kylestor, the ridiculously overpowered and mightiest of the mighty world-ending sky-breakers.
ironically, kylestor (who is better known by his friends as kyle, since they can't be bothered to refer to him by his full name) admired waldo's endearing sense of indefatigable moxie so much that the two became inseparable friends, thus proving that fate does indeed have a sense of humor. they now live together somewhere in the westmoorlands, where waldo makes an honest living as a carpenter, and kyle leads a local sewing circle.
