A common street thief with some skill in their magic makes a large haul of coin. Though, things take a sudden turn.

It all happens in a single second: the ring of gold coins, the rush of air, the thick thud of boots on cobblestone, the flap of an overcoat, the desperate shouts. “Thief, thief! I’ve been robbed!” I let the small pouch slide into a pocket on my coat, sprinting away from the man as fast as I can. I hear the clop of more leather boots as a small group of officers pursue me. I make sure to quickly raise my mask above the tip of my nose, anticipating my hood blowing down in the wind.
I rush past many people and side-walk stalls, almost tripping over a few over- extended legs and tails. More shouts erupt as the town’s denizens are pushed out of the way by the officers. White blasts of energy blister past me, leaving blue embers to fall from their suspension in the air. One of them strikes a handsome and well-dressed, scaled man – causing all his muscles to grow taught, leaving him to fall to the hard, cobbled ground. Using my instincts and a little magic, I slip and dodge a few more oncoming spells.
I begin to get more desperate, I can only dodge so many spells before one eventually hits me. I begin thinking of something to cast, tossing a few spells of fire at the pursuers behind me in the meantime. Then, the word pops into my head, Distringere. With a quiet, breathless utter, a dark-red aura surrounds me. Then, three more figures sprint ahead of me. They all look the same as I do, each one breaking off into a different part of the street. One starts scaling a building, while another throws itself to the right. I take the next left and the last copy continues sprinting through the market.
My hood finally blows back, revealing my dense, messy red hair. Behind me, I hear a violent gallop pass; good, they’re still chasing the decoy. I slow into a casual walk and reapply my hood, performing a quick scan of my surroundings to ensure that no one is suspicious of me. I softly pat the pocket of my coat, getting the satisfying jingle of coins in reply. I inconspicuously take an apple from one of the crowded carts on the side of the street, throwing it up and catching it a few times before taking a bite.
Then, my eyes widen and my jaw nearly drops to the ground as another well- dressed man catches my eye. He sports a white suit and highly-held chin. In addition, there is an excruciatingly noticeable pouch of coins on his hip. I immediately plunge into thought; the police are still looking for me, but this is an impossible-to-pass-up opportunity for more quick coin. Taking another haste bite out of the apple, I start to head straight towards the unsuspecting man.
The street becomes a little more crowded, working as both an advantage and disadvantage. It would be easier to steal from him, he wouldn’t deduce my part in his robbing before it’s too late. But, everyone else essentially has front- row seats to my antics and time to block my escape. Regardless, I follow through – quickly formulating a plan. With one final bite of the apple, I ready it in my hand. I throw the apple far off to the left, following it with my eyes for a moment after. The apple quickly arcs in the air, its trajectory changing to a straight shot toward the man. With a rather loud impact, the apple ricochets
off the side of his head – tainting his scales with a bit of sour juice and green skin.
The man hisses in frustration, quickly looking to the left. I dash over and swipe his coin-pouch, gaining his attention. As a quick measure to slow him down a little, I use some wind magic to knock him off balance. I broke into another sprint, dashing down the cobbled street again. I don’t bother to look back and see his expression, or if he has started chasing me.
“Thief! That cloaked hag stole my coins!” Hag? I must be thinner than I thought- I almost turn to cast a spell at him out of spite, but decide it’s too far. More officers enter from the street next to me, now chasing closely behind. I cast a barrier of magical protection at my back, stopping any spells from ruining my remarkably successful haul.
Again, I find myself looking for a way out – I really need to get rid of these officers! Spontaneously, I throw a small explosive spell behind me – throwing me a little off balance and sending the pursuing police man and woman tumbling to the ground. Two more officers appear down the street in front of me; I take an expeditious, sharp turn into the street to my right. I frantically look for a place to make my closing escape. Eventually spotting a dark, empty looking alley.
I slip into the shadows, breathing an alleviating sigh. However, I quickly find that the action isn’t quite over. A very tall furred figure stands menacingly half-way into the alley. They aren’t facing me, though, but someone else. I recognise the other silhouette as a dragon. The fur of the aggressor stands on end, I eventually spot an enchanted sword in their right hand. Behind the hood of the dragon, I recognise terror in their eyes.
More shouts call from behind me, too. Time is running out. I make another quick decision, hoping this one works out better than my previous two. Spotting way out and in dire need of some way in which to escape the advancing officers, I dash toward the furred figure. Their hearing gives them little assistance, only placing them in a better position for me. I sprint at them at a blistering pace, jumping toward the brick wall next to me and kicking off with a leg as they turn from catching the thuds of my heavy boots. Regardless of their quick reflexes in detecting my approach, their sword doesn’t rise nearly as fast as it would need to in order to catch me.
I plant my palm on their forehead in mid-air, hastily muttering a sleep-spell. I land on top of their limp body, meeting the gaze of the dumbfounded dragon in front of me. Before I can react, a clawed limb shoots out at me. I’m quickly pulled into an embrace by the dragon, earning a tight hug and affectionate nuzzle. “Thank you, kind stranger! I certainly would have fallen victim to his enchanted blade if not for your help.”
Not wanting to waste any time with semantics, I apply a charm to the dragon. My heart beats out of my chest as footsteps echo down the alley. The dragon slowly releases me, a dreamy and calm gaze annexes its eyes. “Aren’t you a
handsome one, too? How about I repay you for your service~?” I quietly urge the dragon to hurry with its repayment, getting closer to its muzzle.
The dragon licks my face a few times, rumbling deeply with satisfaction. “Hmm~ I have just the idea...” The dragon parts its jaws and gingerly plants them over my shoulders. My adrenaline wears off, heart-rate slows, and muscles relax as the warm humidity compasses over me. Escape; a perfect escape. The dragon continues to work its sharp teeth and soft tongue over my body with joy, expelling a profound mur of gratification. I even find myself enjoying the firm massage of the dragon’s throat on my upper body as the last of my legs are pulled into its maw.
The dragon’s thick saliva stains my red hair and already heavy clothes, coaxing my body to slide down with greater ease. The dragon takes its time to lap and taste as much of my body as it can, finally stretching its neck as the last of my body sinks into its stomach. I curl up into an oddly-shaped sphere of tremendous comfort, basking in the gentle, passive warmth of the dragon’s core. The space shifts from side-to-side as the dragon appears to move, leaving the alley and travelling to who-knows-where.
I take this time to rest, my aching muscles finally earning a small reprieve after the day’s intense action. I’m lulled gingerly to sleep by the hospitable insides of the dragon, securing a far greater hiding spot than I originally imagined I had signed up for.
Sweet, peaceful sleep is torn from me as I’m compacted from every side. My slimy and warm surroundings grow taut as I’m constricted and transported through some sort of space. Unceremoniously, I’m dropped onto a wooden floor and exposed to the biting cold of the outside atmosphere. “You...” I quickly get up and try to gain my bearings, wobbling a little as my eyes adjust to the light.
I’m inside a home, except everything looks just a little bigger than my size. I raise my arms slightly as I notice I’m dripping with some form of translucent, viscous liquid. The quietly and dubiously uttered word finally reaches my ears, directing my attention to an awfully close muzzle lined with sharp, white teeth. I trip backwards, falling onto my hands and butt. A dragon larger than myself looks at me with an eye of skepticism. “Did you charm me?”
I scoot a little further away, but the dragon takes an assertive step forward. I’m intimidated into halting my attempt at an escape, my eyes drawn to the two glowing, purple irises of the dragon. Its dark grey scales split light all over the room as the dragon steps into a beam from the sun. “You did, didn’t you?” The dragon concludes. My eyes grow a little wider, considering what it may have in mind to serve as a punishment.
The dragon takes a few hastier steps forward and places a single clawed appendage on my chest, affirming my ill-ability to get away. “Well, I can’t say I mind an awful lot... You are quite the sight for desperate eyes, after all~” The
dragon playfully licks at my neck and face, withdrawing some of the pressure from my torso.
“So, what’s your deal, then? Are you mute or something? I’d just like to know that the... feeling is mutual, if you’re buying what I’m selling-” The dragon regards me with a kinder eye, holding its inquiry for a few moments before boredom begins to dissolve its curiosity.
“Just quiet,” I reply with a raspy and stifled voice. The dragon holds a slightly more worried look, hearing the fatigue following my words. I point to a large scar on my neck, one I earned from a lucky slice of someone’s dagger. The dragon’s gaze adapts to understanding, as it shifts into a seated position.
With the paw removed from my chest, I also slide back against the wall and continue to regard the dragon with my still weary gawk. “So,” the dragon begins. “I like to go by Eileen, I’ve been called that a lot more often lately. Do you have a name you like to go by, or something?”
I think for a moment, I haven’t actually used a name in a while – it doesn’t really help to prolong my anonymity and such. But, a fond memory gives me an answer. “Park...” My voice rakes into the atmosphere, somehow earning a smile from Eileen and not a wince.
The dragon’s tail idly sways from either side as her thoughts brew from behind the dark grey scales. “I have to say, Park, while I don’t particularly appreciate you charming me, I’m still grateful that you decided to help me. And, now that I think about it, I’m also grateful to have such an interesting meeting with an interesting seeming person – and a human no less. Tell me, how skilled are you in arcane arts of magic?”
“Very.” I allow a small remnant of a smile to sneak past my internal defences, growing more fond of the dragon myself. I entertain the idea of this not being a one-off interaction.
“But you were escaping something, weren’t you? I noticed that you had just run into the alley and I passed quite a few police officers on the way back home just now.” I noticed Eileen had begun to – seemingly subconsciously – tap a claw on the black stained-wood floor.
As an answer, I reached into my coat and threw two soaking-wet pouches out in front of the dragon. They both landed at her feet, a coin or two spilling onto the floor. “A thief?” She asks, I nod slowly – somewhat dubious of her reaction. “I guess that’s one way to make use of your arcane skills...”
She looks at me, silently, for a few moments. I don’t find it too awkward or apprehending, as I often rival her current lack of vocal activity. “Perhaps you wouldn’t have to spend your time robbing every clueless, rich scum on the street~” Rising again, she moves tenderly toward me.
By some newly formed instinct, I reach a hand out and rest it on her nose. Her eyes close heavily, pleasure grows across her face. I realise. “I’d like that.” She presses her muzzle into my chest as I reply, stealing some air from my lungs in the process. I finally shed my – still saliva-saturated – coat and hooded long-sleeve shirt, leaving me in thick pants and a thin undershirt. Eileen awards me with a few more small licks, murmuring lowly in a release of bliss.
“I was hoping you would~” She whispers. “Not everyone gets to charm me and get away with it...” She starts to playfully bite at my arm, pulling it into her mouth and sucking on my hand from the back of her throat.
I chuckle hoarsely, “I wouldn’t even consider it.” With my free hand, I massage the underside of her jaw. I find myself enjoying the closeness and intimacy much more than I would have ever thought I could. The dragon withdraws and I’m left to lean by myself against the wall once more.
“I think we’ll get along nicely~” She says with a regal beauty, regarding me with an unmatched affinity and care – I find myself already lost in her alluring, violet eyes.
