Not really happy with how this one turned out in terms of its niche element.
Just your normal human and dragon pair hanging out together; one has questions of what it would be like to get eaten – what could go wrong?
(At the moment, this story preview does not have any formatting – this means character thoughts aren't differentiated from plain text.)
I sit quietly on the ground, admiring the very large dragon before me; the dragon has a simple gaze aimed at me, too. We both watch each other with a dumb grin plastered across our faces. Suddenly, the air in front of me becomes warm and humid as the dragon parts its jaws in a yawn.
Several conflicting and utterly idiotic thoughts fire in my mind during the action of the dragon; ultimately, it causes a dejected and half-hearted chuckle from me when the dragon returns its usual pose. “What?” The dragon asks abruptly .
Again, I let out a light chuckle – causing more confusion and even frustration to build within the creature. “Nothing...” I say with an almost deliberate suspicious tone – wanting to instigate further investigation from the dragon for my own entertainment.
“Hmm, very convincing. Well, spit it out-”
I continue to surveil the dragon with a shit-eating grin on my face, causing it to shift in further dissatisfaction. “What’s got you acting all weird so suddenly?” It asks with a more imperative tone in its voice.
I quickly begin to lose interest in staying silent and observing as the dragon attempts to get an answer from me – it didn’t have as much drive as I would have thought. “I don’t know- It’s just, when you yawned before I got this... feeling.”
“You’ve got a feeling? Right- I still don’t understand what you’re on about.” The creature returns to its relaxed position on the ground, also seeming to lose interest.
I approach it, closing the already short distance between us. Surprised, it watches as I sit myself down right in front of its muzzle. Again, warm wafts of air contact against my skin – resurfacing the thoughts from before and causing goosebumps to form on my body. “I mean, I don’t know what I’m on about either. But... it sort of felt nice when you yawned before.”
“How could it feel nice to you? I was the one yawning-” The dragon huffs in an action of confusion, simultaneously giving me something of a glare as if to pressure me into either dropping the conversation or getting to point.
“I mean, like, the warm air. It feels nice now, too.” The dragon’s expression instantly changes to something of shock, the look also indicated that it found my comment weird.
“Right... ~You sure do have a knack for finding the best conversation-starters~” The dragon retracts itself a little, moving its head further away from me with a worried look.
However, I edge closer – finding the right words to further my point. “I’m just telling you the truth – you have always had this wonderful radiant heat.”
“...And?”
“I guess, I really like it-” I look away and stand up, turning my back to the creature in embarrassment. In my last glimpse of the dragon, I saw its eyes widen in an expression of surprise.
“Oh... well, then--” I hear it sigh, followed by a soft shifting – however, I persist my misdirected gaze.
Then, without a hint of a warning, I feel the soft touch of the dragon’s smooth scales. Promptly, I turn to face it – finding its head far closer to mine than it has ever been before. Hesitantly, I reach a friendly hand out toward the dragon. With conviction, the dragon moves its head forward to contact with my hand. Instantly, a warm feeling spreads throughout my body – infecting every corner of my form. However, it’s more of a friendly feeling – like the feeling you get when you’re with someone you love and trust – than a physical feeling.
Taking the first move after our contact, I progress toward the dragon – the conceptual feeling of warmth grows stronger as I do. Eventually, my arms find their way around the neck of the dragon in a cordial embrace. Both of us audibly sigh in contempt and even relief as we make affable contact.
After the hug lasts long enough to become awkward, I withdraw from the dragon and take a few steps back to continue my gaze into its eyes. Once more are warm gusts of air diffusing over my form – and, once more, do the thoughts resurface. The dragon seem to catch onto my inadvertency, and holds its head a little higher to speak
“What’s on your mind?” I flounder for the words, but no form of explanation comes to mind – leaving me to continue my indifferent gawk at the dragon. I can sense a growing impatience in the creature and drive myself to work faster at devising a response, before it can ask the question again. “What it would feel like to be eaten--” Immediately, I hold both my hands over my mouth in surprise; the dragon almost jumps back and stares at me in concern of my causal answer.
“You what?” The dragon utters in astonishment.
Taking a few seconds to move past my discomposure, I remove my hands from my mouth and manage to reduce the redness in my cheeks. “I-- uh... that sort-a just came out. I guess, I was wondering what that could be like, but--” I quickly cut myself off, seeing the mortification on the dragon’s face.
Both of us take a few steps away from each other, gathering our thoughts. Hardly a minute passes before the dragon looks back up at me in preparation to talk. “You were really thinking about that?” It asks apathetically.
Instinctively, my hand raises to the back of my neck and I begin to mess up my hair. “Um, yea-- it’s pretty weird, I know – sorry for just dropping that on you; I can leave-” I begin to take a few steps back, but the dragon almost leaps forward in dissent.
“No-- wait. You don’t have to leave, I was just wondering if you were really curious...”
“...Why?” The way the dragon trailed-off roused some suspicion within me – I also became aware that our roles in the conversation had completely flipped.
“Nothing...” The dragon replies with what I almost didn’t catch as a slight smirk
Seeing my que, I respond with a smirk of my own. “Hmm, very convincing; well, spit it out.”
The dragon’s smirk drops and it falls quiet again, frantically looking around in indecision. “I could help you find out... what it’s like.”
Again, I became flustered in a blur of velvet. I didn’t know how to reply – now, I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to know. “I guess it wouldn’t hurt... w-would it?”
“No-- no! I’d make it as safe as possible, if you really want to – though.”
Tentatively, I approached the dragon again – it simply remained in place and lowered its head to better face me. Again, I raised my hand and placed it on the nose of the dragon. A grin formed on both our faces as we were close once more. Then, the jaws of the dragon parted to reveal its soft and wet maw. I gasped lightly at the sight, many contradictory feelings started in my mind – the indecision of approaching the open maw of the dragon, or running away in fear.
Against what would be deemed my better judgement, I progressed toward the fleshy cavern. The dragon’s tongue hung out of its mouth in an almost cute fashion; I was suddenly compelled to reach my hand out toward its tongue. Upon our connection, the dragon recoiled in a sound of disgust. “What’s wrong?” I asked immediately, staring up at the disformed face of the creature.
“Oh, I-- I didn’t think of how you would actually taste. Um, sorry...”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I ask with both my hands on my hips in an apprehensive manner.
“You don’t taste good, at all-” The dragon replies impassively. “So...”
“So? So, I don’t like your taste.”
“Oh, come on. You can’t go to this length, only to not want to follow through just because I taste bad.”
“Can you not make it weird?”
“What? You made it weird by saying it’s weird; just grow a pair and eat me!” I surprised both myself and the dragon with my sudden outburst – but sustained my stiff expression.
“Fine-” The dragon quickly lowered its head and collected me in its mouth all in one movement.
Everything happened so fast, I nearly didn’t make contact with its tongue at all – as I almost-instantly found myself being squelched from all sides down its hot throat. Contrary to being collected in the mouth of the creature, my journey down its throat was much slower. I managed to enjoy the feeling of being eaten much more than I originally anticipated. The red, soft walls of the throat guided me down to the stomach – a place I’m just now hoping is safe. The entire atmosphere was a mild warmth and very humid, too. The wonderful feeling of being slowly swallowed seemed to overwrite my primal instincts of survival as I slowly advanced towards the stomach of the creature.
With my journey ending, I finally found myself in the very accommodating and comfortable stomach of the dragon. Instantly upon my arrival, I was hit with a wave of drowsiness – as if my body had noticed I was in a comfortable and safe enough place to rest. “Hey, uh, I’ll be fine in here – right?”
“Oh, crap – no, I completely forgot about your safety.” The dragon replies sarcastically, “~Of course you’ll be fine, just get some rest and we’ll forget about this in the morning~”
“I don’t want to forget about this, ~it’s nice~”
“Yea, well, I’m still trying to get your taste out of my mouth – that’s something I’d rather forget.”
“Ew, stop – you’re making it weird.” I say satirically.
“Not as weird as you~” The dragon replies with a light tone as it seems to rest its body on the ground – I become slightly more compressed in its stomach from the movement.
