Varrek is a half-dragon bastard princeling, who claims reign in the absence of his mother, a Queen of greater red full-dragons, seated in the halls of a ruined fortress where his clan dwells with court and subordinates.

Chances are he will claim title to a Bastard King come a day, when no full-dragon heir can be made. Such was the tradition of the country, and where there are full-dragons, there usually were a number of halfbreeds second in command, and serving as the right hands to their full-dragon parent of a respective colony.

He wields the greatsword named Shadowsong, a sentient weapon once intended to be the worthy gift to a Demon Lord, which Varrek claimed for himself. Albeit not being good at heart, Varrek's history long reaches back to fighting off greater evil. So far, his mind has resisted the corrupting influence of Shadowsong.

The window frame in the throne is a vague reference to the local faith, Ymlung the Leviathan, a cosmical being who made the stars from its breath and exists in a state of dichotomy, a wyrm as the living aspect and a dracolich as its undead aspect. Embodying the natural order; Old things die in order for new to be born.
