With every year since their bond had been sown Rakant and Takaani's love deepened. Although it was never celebrated like some sort of holiday, the two dragons held their day of union closely to their chests and always did something for one another. Love is not won over by singular grand displays. It's the daily actions, the small and constant things that builds one's connection to each other on a profound level.
On the evening of their Day of Union's anniversary, Takaani made a simple request to Rakant. "Let's relax beneath the stars tonight. Go on ahead; I want to get some wine."
Rakant complied happily. The obsidian ventured to one of their favorite spots to stargaze at the northern end of Rahfar, facing west towards the horizon. He settled down on the grass, kicking his legs out and letting his breath cast a mist into the air to watch it fade into the chilly evening. Ten minutes later Rakant's eyes turned upwards to see Takaani circling above, and after she honed in on the desired spot the storm dragon glided down before Rakant. Between her teeth was a bundle of sunflower seeds, eyes crinkled slightly at their corners with a spark of playfulness.
Rakant stared at Takaani for a few moments, soaking in the view before him. A soft rumble leaves the obsidian's chest and he lifts his head to look her into the eyes. Rakant recalls a melody he once heard a long time ago and his eyes softened. "You hold the sun in your eyes and between your teeth, my dear. Before me lies the Sun, the Moon, and the Stars... I feel as though the cosmos is mine, and I am beyond fortunate."
