Never had that problem with contacts...
I have had them fall from my fingertip onto the extremely non-sterile kitty-liter strewn bathroom floor.
I've accidentally gotten the hot capsicum oil from dried szechuan peppers get into my eye and soak into the contact, which burns like hell and you can't wear that pair ever again.
I've had contacts roll up into a little pill and disappear somewhere behind my eyeball, taking ten minutes of frantic, random effort to coax them forward again.
I've had them tear, and even little triangles tear out of the rim, which can be very painful to wear.
But I've never had a pair of conacts go "cross-eyed." It's hard to see how that would be painful either, so it would be the least of my worries in any case.
