I've got a story WIP of some fantasy cats based on IRL Big Cats + other elements and this is the main character's Aunt!
Bakuguari are a sub species of Kuguari, which I've got a really rough painting of a regular Kuguari that I did recently: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/47798593/
Difference between the 2 are that Bakuguari have longer fur, more bioluminescence on their bodies (used for attracting fish in the waters they hunt in), their fur is a nursery for Dream Flowers that heal sickness and ailments as well as aide in restless sleep, and they can appear in the dreams of other Kuguari.
Kuguari can have some algae in their fur from being in and around water, sometimes some other water plants will grow in their manes. Their bioluminescence only occurs in their eyes, whiskers, and front paws/arm patterns (which is a more direct lure for fish to come straight for their teeth and claws).
~Both cats are strong swimmers, though will sometimes hang out in trees sleeping, eating, or getting ready to ambush their prey as they stop for a drink.
~Bakuguari and Kuguari also have a mix of spots and stripes which patterns vary from individual to individual and is rare for either species to not have these patterns.
~Fur colours of both range from Realistic irl Big Cat colours to more fantastical, "Sparkle" colouration because dang it I wanna have fun with this and I love both representations!
~All Kuguari and subspecies of Kuguari have webbed toes and spend most of their time in or near water.
~Kuguari of any species are mostly quadrupedal, using all four limbs for walking/running/swimming. They also have the ability to gesture with their forepaws, sit up on their haunches, grab with their forepaws, make things to wear or use, and are able to stand upright more like an IRL bear. They cannot walk bipedally or run bipedally, and would rather resort to carrying heavier things in their mouths or on their backs. They have an advantage to diving and swimming, though their land speed is lacking, so having the extra dexterity has benefits to holding onto ambushed prey.
~Lastly, since I'm running on low brain power; Female Kuguari of any species are usually bigger than Male Kuguari, which is not the case with most IRL Big Cats.
THAT'S ALL I'VE GOT RIGHT NOW LOL
I feel some bits are mildly repetitive; it's like 1 am as i'm typing this hahahah oops xD
I'm really REALLY happy with how this reference came out and wanted to share it here! <3
Really this is just an excuse for me to draw more cats
