I think people should be proud of more important achievements.
Although knowing how parents, it would seem, are the closest people, can despise their own children with non-traditional orientation.
Although, most likely, thinking differently than I do, you will be able to live simply and happily. Many people want simplicity and love; sometimes LGBT people are not allowed to love freely, striving to live simply and happily, perhaps they need this pride.
