haha. yeah. my first meet was following people i knew around and other people talked to me. After that, all the shyness broke away. I had a blast at my first meet.

I didn't know anyone, so it was just me sitting there feeling alone

If I went to the same con with ya, I woulda had you hang out with me the whole time and we woulda had fun drawing ^^ I'm a open person so I woulda pounced ya first if anything. "CHARRIOOOO!!" XD If it isn't me, then  Blackfrost woulda done the same since she know a LOT of furs. You woulda felt at home then. It's always better to go with someone to a con because I can imagine that it was very boring. I was quiet towards everyone when I went to my first con (even tho I was in my own world drawing LoL). It's like, "What do I say to him or her?..." Most furries are openly friendly and will welcome you with open arms. I understand your shyness as well. Maybe someone you know can take you to the next con and enjoy the environment better. ^^

True. Me, I enjoyed some company while glued to my chair drawing at cons. XD It's always good to conquer shyness with humor and I love being the goofy kind making people laugh. X3 Maybe sometime, we might run across. Especially if you live on the east cost. ^^

My first Furmeet happend kind of because I bugged a Yahoo Group utill soeoe replied, then kept bugging them.

Fairly lackluster, none of us had the slightes clue what to do, and we still got together again. middle of march the next year, we had the first meet up with more than four people. Twenty of us, all crouded around a set of Bavarian Waffle house tables. Sadly, no one wanted to pre book time at the Lazer Tag arena, so it wound up eight of us going back to Froboshe's place(Think I got his name right)

Have not been able to get to a meet in years, but they are still hppening, over a hundred members trong last I checked. Be proactive, you never know what might happen.

No, this is not me saying I am responcible for the genisis of that group. It was ready and waiting to happen.

Heh, I know that feeling. I go out to AC and MFM to meet up with the furs I know from mucks and the like, but when it comes to the local scene (Bay Area, California)... eh. I've been to FC and a local meet and it's just not quite as fun when you don't know people in the area. Furs tended to group into their circles and there weren't many that sought out the unattached to try to make friends. Not that I blame them; I think a lot of us aren't great at getting out of our comfort zones when it comes to RL, especially. So, most of the time it's kinda lonely for me out here, too.

Only advice I have for you, if you can't plan to hang out with someone you know elsewhere, is to draw out in the open. I've got friends that draw, and usually a few furs will stop by to see what you're up to; might be able to get a conversation started from there, at least. Hope things work out better for you!

A furmeet is when a bunch of local furs get together to hang out and meet.
My ones since then have been better lol
