I first met Jonas, was when he was helping out the owners of the shops in his village and they would reward him for his help. He had first caught a glimpse of me walking around the shops, and after following me around for a bit I looked stopped to ask him if there was anything I could help him with. He had a big smile on his face shaking his head, and yet he still followed me until it was time to check-in at an Inn for the night. The next day I saw him running about again helping out shop owners or villagers. The Inn keeper's wife walked up to my side telling me that he has been living on his own after the village lost the orphanage. Everyone in the village would like to take him in but they are just making it by themselves. Watching as he went from one villager to another from shopkeep to shopkeep, I began to reminisce about my life before the collapse. I walked over, grabbed his attention, and began small talk. He was very soft-spoken for one as young as he was. Finally, after a short while, I asked if he would like to come and stay with me and others that I have taken into my home just like him. He had nodded instantly which had taken me aback a bit, to which I asked why the instant answer, did he not want to think it over. He had friends here? He responded by saying that the spirits around me told him that he can trust me. After giving him a soft smile I stopped by informing the villagers that I’d take him into my home. They looked hesitant at first but after he had explained to them the best he can but they reluctantly let him go. I swore on my life that I would keep him safe, they still didn't look reassured. After some last-minute packing and resupply, we both set out. As we both made our way home he ran in front of me saying his name was Jonas. I stopped in my tracks remembering an old friend who not only held the same name but was just like like him, very soft-spoken and kind beyond belief, he was always helping others. Smiling I resumed walking.
