Sae Draelong was tired. She had been occupied all day moving items and taking care of the exhibits in the museum that she worked in. She had just been transferred to this museum a few weeks ago and it still required a large amount of work in order for it to be up to her standards.
She let out a soft sigh as she walked towards the front of the museum, then to her office. It was a little small for her, as she was very tall, almost 9 ft, and had quite the curvy figure. Sometimes her size and curves had caused her to knock over the objects in her small office, evident by the amount of small objects still littered on the floor. She sat down at her desk for a moment, the chair squeaking under her weight as she looked up at a map of the middling village that she just moved to.
The map was of a fairly small village named Drachenhausen, it was situated on the beach of the northern part of the continent of Stracia. The weather was warm enough she supposed, with the tropical water current bringing warm water up to the beach at the southern portion of the town. The rest of the town was arranged in concentric circles and branched around the centermost circle, where the town center and market were located. Her museum was located just outside of the center of Drachenhausen and it was always fairly busy. She had the pleasure of seeing many regulars on a weekly basis, as many of the townsfolk admired the history shown in the museum.
She sighed once more and looked at the clock. It was almost closing time and she looked into the reflection of the blackness of her computer monitor and stared at her own features. She was an orcadragon, her face and snout black and white, smooth with fine scales that covered her entire body. Her snout was sleek but draconic at the same time and held aloft a pair of fine rectangular glasses that screamed professionalism. Her purple eyes contrasted with her blue teal hair that was put up in a neat bun with sticks containing it. She looked down at her ample bosom and her curvy but muscled figure clothed by a comfy business sweater and nice slacks.
Her musings were broken when her phone's alarm rang out, telling her that it was time to close up the museum. She was actually excited because today would be the first day that she would be closing on time and would be able to go to that cafe that was across the street. She had wanted to go multiple times, but work had always gone on so long that she had always arrived after the cafe had closed, much to her disappointment.
She packed her things in a small economically designed purse that she carried with her and locked the door to the museum as she exited. She then made her way to the small cafe down the road and smiled when the sign still read open. She pushed open the door and walked in before she paused mid-step as she saw the person working behind the counter.
It was almost as if she was looking into a mirror, it was another orcadragon, the same coloration and large features, including the long and thick tail with a flipper at the end designed for swimming. The only real difference between the two was that the other orca dragon had pink hair and teal eyes wearing large round glasses as well sitting upon a slightly larger snout. She was looking at a pair of customers, a black and orange panther and navy blue fox with 2 tails before her gaze turned over to Sae.
Her blood ran cold, feeling awkward for a second as their eyes met. The person at the other side of the counter stared back and opened their mouth for a moment before closing it and waving awkwardly. Sae returned the wave as she walked forward towards her look alike. "Oh, uhm, Hello. I don't believe we've met before. It's quite rare to see another of our kind out and about. My name is Sae Draelong, of the Draelong family, what's yours?"
The other dragon was startled at hearing Sae's last name and responded a little shakily, "My name i-is Hyu, Hyu Draelong. Welcome to my cafe Sae. Why do we have the same last name?"
Sae could only puzzle at that, her family's history was very solid and she was an only child. Her mother had said it herself. She then remembered a story about how her great grandfather's brother had left their homeland and left to go on an adventure to Stracia and never returned. Her family had presumed him dead and never thought about him other than when offering their rites.
Sae relayed this story about her great great uncle and Hyu looked up in contemplation before saying, "Yeah I think my grandpa's dad came here from overseas. Grandpa always said that we weren't from around here."
Sae nodded her head in confirmation, a smile coming to her face as she bowed slightly before putting her hand out in a handshake, "Well it's nice to meet you, my cousin."
Hyu smiled and took Sae's hand and shook it, before gesturing with her hand towards a booth seat, "Here, grab a seat. I'll get us a cup of coffee and we can discuss this. It sounds like it will take a while to catch up."
Sae smiled and took a seat as Hyu got a couple cups of coffee ready and took a seat across from her, engaging in an amiable conversation that lasted deep into the night about their lives and occupations.
