We took a s longer rest somewhat near one of the rivers opening up into the ocean, just to cover a wider terrain where our mystery plant could possibly be found. Turns out that was the right descision, because we found-
well, we are not quite sure, or if its actually what we are looking for, but Atubah ensure us that the plant we found is most certainly not from around here, which is a good indicator that it might be our suspect.
It is a dark green, mossy plant that has longer, grass like protusions. they are really small of course but in our gathered sample, we could determine that the grass is actually quite stiff ans fairly sharp, so it could potentially not be a case of being ingested but rather it
having some sort of ill effect by breaking skin and releasing something in the animals bloodstream. what is also of note is that the moss has what appears to be tiny, slimey berries or pustules growing on it here and there, which are brightly cyan in color.
This is definetly very strange, and Atubah said she´d never seen anything quite like it. simillar yes, but at least on first observation this seems to be a new plant species or sub species.
We are packing up to return back to base for now. I managed to see what I believe to have been the back of a Brackish Riverdragon, which was amazing to see but also gave us further cause to turn around and not get too close to that river.
Brackish Riverdragons are possibly the biggest of their family. They stay upriver mostly, dozing on sandbanks while staying submerged, and patrolling their rivers. They are more active hunters then most of their cousins, only occasionally waiting in ambush for prolonged amounts of time.
instead, they atively hunt whatever they come across at the mouth of rivers flowing into the sea. Their gills are specialized to withstand highly saline waters, and some of them even swim out to sea to some degree, before turning back. They have longer snouts and a more muscular build then
their cousins, which makes them really effective pursuit hunters. They are strong enough to be able to actively beach themselves when hunting after an amphibious animal trying to seek shelter on land, and make their way back towards water using their front limps.
while the coloration of them seems somewhat flamboyant, its actually a very good disguise. In these Brackish areas, there is a specific kelp like waterplant that has bright red leaves. The gills and quills on their back blend in almost seamlessly.
Brackish Riverdragons are dangerous to almost anything smaller then them, so it is advised to stay out of rivers near the ocean at all costs.
They can live up to 80 years old )and possibly older) and take good care of their offspring. when their young are really small, some females might bond together to build a ´mini day care´ to have more eyes on the babys.
after the offspring is old enough to fend for its own, they go seperate ways again. They are not hyper territorial as long as there is enough space and food around, but of that is not given they might turn to cannibalism really quick.

except of course if you did additional art for the character you sell with them
-Post their picture as many times and wherever you may please. Crediting me as their creator is greatly appreciated, but not nescecarry.
