As an American, I approve of this message~

I'm glad! Personally I get rather annoyed by the amount people care about the U.S. flag. I walk a mile through town and I see so many, some places having 10 of them on display. Like, "thanks, I forgot I was in the U.S. but now that I see your array of 10 flags I know where I am. Now if there were 9 of them I might have had my doubts..." There's even one of those "flag retirement boxes" or whatever like what? Why? U.S. flags are becoming less of a national symbol and more like deities in their own dogmatic religion. I already see patriotism everywhere so having a U.S. day just feels really unnecessary to me. Probably a super hot take but I don't really care.

Also, I like the idea of having a pride celebration at times when corporations stop pretending to care.

Eh, the flag retirement boxes I get. According to US law/custom, the flag is never supposed to touch the ground, and should only be disposed of by burning; this is to avoid the symbol of the country winding up in garbage dumps and what not. I will admit that the degree of reverence some people show when handling flags does border on idolatry.

The amount of flags being out right now is pretty consistent with what is essentially "Jingoism: the holiday".
