I started this painting over a year and a half ago. It's amazing how much my skills have changed in just a year. I am a mix of proud and a little sad about this piece.
I love the color and the overall feel. I always love stone beaches, they can be quite beautiful. I also like the little cubs in there. I was given a painting that he wanted it to be similar to (nothing directly referenced, just a nod)
That said, I didn't know as much about wolf anatomy and composition as I do now, and I fear it shows. I also believe this painting would be MUCH more effective if the head was on the top and the reflection showed the moon--but c'est la vie. There's always the next painting!
