When Teammates Collide (Furmula 1) (+story)
Live broadcast:
Huey Byrd: “And we’re gonna get a safety car now, because that’s Cassandra Ouellet and Prince Avogadro, who are out of this race!”
Jackson Buxton: “That looks like it was a nasty incident. We would need to see a replay of what happened there.”
Huey Byrd: “It appears that Avogadro got a good exit and was up the inside of Ouellet after turn 9, and the two collect each other along the straight and end up in the barrier and then the barrier again at turn 10.”
Jackson Buxton: “Rule number one in this sport is not to crash with your team mate; all of the hours of work for the whole team here in the pit lane and back at the factory, only to cause something like this and leave the weekend with zero points.”
Huey Byrd: “Could this be related to the communication issue Avogadro reported?”
Jackson Buxton: “If he was unable to communicate with his team, I would imagine they would have told Ouellet to let him passed. I know you don’t like team orders but you don’t want to risk this kind of incident if you can. -but look this replay; I think this is just a racing incident. Nether are giving each other enough space and just ended up drifting into each other. But it’s good though both seem to be fine and moving in the cockpit, it looks like Avogadro was quick to get out of his cockpit to check on his teammate.”
Huey Byrd: “I don’t think he was checking on her. It looks like he slapped her on her helmet as she gave him a kind gesture. Well he believes it was Cassandra’s fault.”
Jackson Buxton: “I’m not sure what drove him to that- Cassandra could have been concussed and that wouldn’t have helped at all.”

Postrace interviews:
Bill Buckston: "Not a great race weekend it would seem with two incidents; one with your teammate ending your race early. Care to explain what happened out there with Ouellet?"
Prince Avogadro: “I got the slipstream and a good exit, so I pulled out. And just as I pulled out, Cassandra moved very slightly and collected us both. I was on a different strategy to her after having to pit early after that damage from Da Costa on lap one, so the team should have ordered her to let me pass as I was quicker; but evidently if they did, she didn’t listen. I don’t know what went on as I lost radio contact a few laps before. We lost out on some good points today. The team needs to look into why this has happened and stop it from happening again.”
Bill Buckston: "What are your thoughts on what happened out there?"
Cassandra Ouellet: "No comments. What happened happen we raced hard and it happened unfortunately"
Kolink Helsera (Team Principal): "This weekend's accident gave the entire pitcrew a very nasty fright, but we're glad neither driver was hurt. We encountered significant radio interference of an as yet unknown source for the last few laps leading to the accident, rendering communication with both drivers impaired. We attempted to inform Cass that Avo was closing to pass on an alternate strategy but we never got any responses from her over the lap or so before the accident. Avogadro's radio dropped out entirely, with us failing to connect at all shortly after his stop. An investigation into this bizarre failure is already underway. This is proving to be a very expensive radio outage, but the cars will be repaired for the next race. Cass and Avo will take a little time to recover, but expect to see both back on the track next round too."

Round 1: Austria - Avogadro got throught to Q3, and started the race in 10th; but crashed onto a barrier on lap 38 of 62 due to a puncture. (DNF)
Round 2: Malaysia - Avogadro had a poor qualifying, getting knocked out in Q1 and started the race in 17th; he gained places during the race which was intrupted by a Red Flag for Petri Saukkonen's Furrari engine catching fire. Finished 12th.
Round 3: Bahrain - Avogadro put in an impressive qualifying performace around a track he was familiar with from F3 and F2, putting his Cuzata on the front row, qualifying 2nd. However he dropped like a stone during the race, only finishing 9th. He did get his first 2 points in F1 with this result though.
Round 4: Russia - Avogadro qualified 13th after being knocked out in Q2. On the first lap of the race he was damaged by 2019 world champion Domitila Da Costa. Both came into the pits where Da Costa eventually retired but Avogadro was checked over as the team put him onto hard tires. He eventually started carving his way through the field as other drivers on medium and soft tires began to drop off, and eventually found himself up near the points by lap 12 where he he then needed to overtake his teammate Cassandra Ouellet. Unfortunately the team suffered a radio issue and couldn't speak to either of their drivers and couldn't impose team orders to let Avogadro pass Ouellet. The two fought for position and eventually took each other out; coming to rest on the outside of turn 10. (DNF)
