Even after Steven has set off on his own to discover himself, the Crystal Gems still find ways to get into troubling adventures. While strolling the beach around the temple to keep it clean, Garnet picked up Amethyst and Pearl and joked like Steven always would to put a smile on their faces, but those smiles quickly turned into annoyed frowns when unbeknownst to them, out of the sand popped up a large gem homeworld cannon, but instead of being blasted with a laser beam, the trio were blobbed with a transparent goo.

Completely coated in thick hot light absorbing resin, Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl were unable to move or shapeshift to break free as it gradually cooled off and hardened sold, rendering the three of them trapped and completely encased, essentially turning them into one great big statue as they remained there, completely motionless like an inanimate object yet perfectly fine inside as Gem's didn't need food or oxygen.

For the next two weeks the trio remained as they were, standing there in the hot baking summer sun, cool calming nights, enduring wind and rain as it all slid off their slick resin exterior, the Crystal gems just stood there as the world continued on around them. At first all three were different levels of panicked, angry, or annoyed, but as the first month passed by, Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst all found peaceful bliss in what they had become and all rather enjoyed being a statue together.

After 3 months together, they were finally spotted by Peridot who was doing a maintenance check on her old beach defense cannons from back when they were prepping to fight the diamonds, Everyone was wondering where these three were, assuming they left for a trip but not only did Peridot find them, she bursted out laughing that this is what they've been up too this whole time.

After getting her laugh over how silly they looked frozen like that, Peridot tells them she'll get to work on a dissolvent to set them free and walks off to her lab to get to started, but suddenly another cannon pops up out of the sand and globs Peridot in her tracks, now she too is frozen in resin and trapped as a beach statue, but what triggered this one?

It turns out, this time spent together formed a strange new bond among the statue that was the crystal gams, they'd each grown so fond of being one single statue that despite being unable to shapeshift or fuse, all three of their minds became their fused persona Alexandrite, and she didn't like this tiny green pest showing up, laughing at their beauty and threatening to destroy their bond, so Alexandrite mentally took control of another cannon and decided the tiny green pest would learn her place standing an eternity in their shoes.

For decades, Alexandrite stood on the beach enjoying her blissful existence, and whenever a nosey gem or human went snooping around and found them, Alexandrite judged them based on if they were there to admire their beauty or delude themselves into thinking they were "helping" by trying to destroy their beauty, those fools end up yet another statue on the beach, whether it was the blue haired gem who wouldn't stop trying to free the little green gremlin, or the half gem human boy who kept calling Alexandrite by three names it no longer acknowledged, they all end up apart of the wonderful garden of Resin beach statues.
