A poster I made which I've been taping up in every petstore/grocery store/telephone pole around town.
So many rabbits end up in the shelters or left to die outside after Easter because parents buy their kids baby bunnies are presents without knowing anything at all about their behaviors or how to properly take care of them, and then dump them after a few months because the kids have lost interest/the rabbit is afraid of them because they're loud/try to squeeze it/they haven't gotten it fixed so it's hit purberty and has started being grumpy/spraying/biting.
It just amazes me the amount of people who buy pets without doing any research. Rabbits need the care and attention levels required for a dog. They should have yearly vet vists, to be spayed and neutered, and can live ten years. They aren't dogs, though, their own unique personalities and needs.

I used to work in a petstore as well and people would always come in asking, "why did my *insert small animal here" bite/maim my new pet? I just put them together and thought that they would be fine. My old pet is evil!"
Um, hello? You can't just throw a strange animal into another animal's house, I mean, what would you do if you came home and a stranger was in your bed or raiding your fridge? Be pretty damn pissed, that's what - and somehow they don't realize animals will do the same thing, and that, like people, not all animals like other animals of the same species. They can have personality conflicts, which leads to fighting.

I can't believe people -still- do this every year. The level of stupidity involved makes me wonder how they made it to the pet store in the first place. Goddamn I hate people. *seethes in the corner*
Could you please email me the largest version of this you have? I'd like to put it up and about in my town. We have a healthy wild rabbit population and we are a small town full of ignorant folks... I'm sure it could help if only a little.

thats is so right iv got the idiotic kid who wanted a rabbitfor easter cause iv got rabbits as welso his parents went and got him 1 quess what that was 2 years ago the rabbiot isnt even there anymore. it sickens me to see how people can be so careless as to abandon the rabbit with out giving it to a shelter
