Allthough i am quite not satisfied with the overall quality, i didn't wanted to hold it back. The sound is a little bit distorted (sorry for that).

Oh nice! I started out with Impulse Tracker, then Mod Tracker, and then Fruity Loops. I don't post anything cause quite frankly it all sucks. But I enjoy doing it. I've been looking for a good tracking program for linux. Maybe I'll reinstall my old Sound Blaster Live since my new computer lacks a Game port. I know that's old but its all I have to interface my Casio keyboard which is honesty being used as a filing cabinet rather than a keyboard.
Thankyou for the inspiration. I've had a few game tunes in my head that I want to track again. :)

good luck with that!
I started with tracker software aswell. I think it was Scream Tracker and Modplug Tracker. Still have my older PC system right next to me with a Soundblaster 4.1 inside which has an amazing MIDI wavetable onboard (and gameport aswell). Maybe i'll post some of that too.
And i'm playing with the idea of doing some OPL2 (Adlib FM) stuff, simply because i love that sound really much :)

Looks like I spoke too soon. I never retained my SB Live cause I figured that after I built my new computer I'd just buy a new sound card for it. Unfortunately looks like that since Vista/7 no longer supports the game port so sound card manufacturers drop it as well. I guess there's usb versions but I don't know how well these work.
Do you know of any modern sound cards with a game port? Maybe I'll just buy a SB Live again and forget about using Fruity Loops ever again.

Well, I spent about an hour fooling around in LMMS. I like the interface as its similar to Fruity Loops and will even import my old FLP files. :)
I figured out how to get soundbanks to work but eventually I'd like to do a MIDI interface to my keyboard. I've seen the $6 cheapo cable on Amazon. But how well does it synch? The problem I had in the past is that without a proper sound card/game port combo, I'd have synching issues as I liked to combine MIDI and wav samples. That was only on super crappy onboard cards that did that (back when gameports were builtin)

Well i've been using my USB MIDI cable mainly under windows and it does run fast enough. I suppose you did find the one i have which is a piece of black plastic and some LEDs and silver cables. When it's about latency you should also install the ASIO4ALL driver which does reduces latencies down to a minimum so you can play/record MIDI tracks along to prerecorded material either if they are other MIDI tracks or wave samples. But ONLY if the synch is not perfect. Asio4All is not required of course. But it helps at some points.
The problem with AC97 is that it's a very basic Soundchip that allows the PC owner at least having some basic sound in and output. But their AD/DA converters are kinda weak. Seriously, even my old Soundblaster 4.1 had a better AD/DA converter.
And another disadvantage of AC97 is that is has no MIDI wavetable. I miss the days when i had my Soundblaster 16 inside my PC, which is a PCI model (YAY). And i still have some spare older ISA soundcards laying in my stuff-bin :P
