well there are a few options i can think of:
1 "he found the dragon horde, he becomes a part of the horde"
2. he's transformed into a dragon himself, with some "benefits to that dragon"(in other word bring back dragon kind), depends on the gender of the dragon pictured... things could get awkward. he doesn't lose his mind or memories
(related too 2) 3. used as a toothpick or take a rick and morty aspect for the dragon's enjoyment, and tries to escapement to no avail, because dragon follows the poor fool
4. eaten, since that dragon most likely hasn't eaten in a long time, slowly but use of healing magic could make it worth the dragon's time
5. escapes

hears the scene of a king "they said that the party never returned and now there are two dragons, why did we ever think of sending bards? like sure it won't turn out the same way as the other kingdoms, we told the party to slay the dragon... not lay the dragon and rescue the princess that the dragon took.
