April’s crossover image features The Last Unicorn!

Coach and Suzie find a unicorn! But she seems a bit… different. There’s something about her eyes that says she’s far more than just old, she had a very profound experience at some point.

The Last Unicorn is a movie (and book) that was a huge part of my childhood. I already liked the art style because I’d seen the animated Hobbit and Return of the King and was used to it, so I dove right in when I found out it was the same studio. It was a great adventure with lots of memorable moments, and the coolest thing about the movie is it’s almost word for word the same as the book, it’s just missing a couple moments but almost every line spoken was from the book.

There’s one thing missing from the movie that’s kind of important and cool though, and that is that Shmendrick is an immortal because he was so bad at magic, his instructed enchanted him to be immortal until he becomes a true wizard.

The Last Unicorn has some dark moments, but I think that’s the cherry on top for it that makes it all come together so nicely. It’s a unique story with a unique art style and if you haven’t seen it yet, consider adding it to your watch list.
