February’s crossover art features my favorite Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy 9. My pet cat is named after the main character, Zidane.

Final Fantasy 9 has colorful characters, an interesting world, a fantastic soundtrack, and a great story. It’s a steampunk setting with all sorts of sapient beings inhabiting the planet, from rat people to hippo people. There are many funny moments, and many gut wrenching moments as well, keeping the whole story balanced.

Zidane is part of a group of thieves who double as a theater troupe, and they were on a mission to kidnap the princess- what they weren’t expecting was that the princess wanted to be kidnapped in order to figure out how to solve whatever’s happening to her evil queen mother. Many of the group that forms together explore who they truly are and question their existences. This story is definitely about found family and what it means to have an identity.

Here we see Zidane, Coach, and Suzie having a random encounter with a bandersnatch, my favorite creature in the game.
