Our last main character for our Bug Fables AU! (though I still have to color some of them kjdfg) This was actually the first bug my partner drew, long before we thought of this story, and he looked ENTIRELY different. Recently he blessed me with a redesign and requested that I draw him in my style (read: regularly reminded my executive-dysfunction-ridden self with the excitement of a child asking "are we there yet" in the car), so here he is - Spek, a spicebush swallowtail!

Even from birth, Spek was very small compared to his fellow bugs, and was often ridiculed for it. With no one to look after him, he had to learn to protect himself at a very young age from the dangers that lurked in his homelands. His small size helped him stay undetected while his tormentors fared much worse against the various predators. Eventually Spek left for a less dangerous place to settle, but found that many bugs outright ignored him, not finding it worth their time to help someone so small. In retaliation, Spek utilized his small stature in another way - thievery.

Small-time pickpocketing turned to being hired for his sticky-fingered services, in which he would expertly make off with both the money and the treasure. After years of accumulating riches and garnering an infamous reputation, he was finally caught and detained during an attempt to steal from a queen. During his transfer to prison, a beast attacked and he was able to flee amidst the ensuing panic, but was then blamed for said attack and had no choice but to lay low. That is, until Team Serendipity hears of all this and is tasked with intervening...

I love the drastic change that Spek went through since he was first created, in both design and personality. Originally he was just a chill buddy but now he's an absolute bastard and I had a lot of fun with this djfhgjkdf
