The problem is not that nothing happened this time you just have no idea what might happen next time. There have been many cases of people who know how to swim quite well that have drown because some freak thing happened that no one ever expected to happen, and the people died. Is it not better to be safe and nothing happens, than something happens and you may drown?
I have compeated in high school swimming competitions and every time I got into my speedboat I wore my life preserver. It did not matter if I was planning to pull a skier or if I was just going to be cruising around the bay. Someone else might do something extremely stupid and crash their boat into mine.
A life preserver can be worn under or over a fursuits bodysuit depending how tight the bodysuit is.
