Can’t go wrong with the classics! I’ll admit, it’s been ages since I’ve seen the Jungle Book, but that scene with Bagheera hypnotized is kinda hard to forget; it’s what got me into hypno stuff in the first place! It’s a pity Kaa didn’t manage to pull that off on any of the other animals in the films; such a wasted opportunity! I’m definitely going to have to change that at some point; at the very least, Baloo and Shere Khan could use some colorful cuddles!
I hope you enjoy!
Somewhere, deep in the jungle, a black panther slept atop a tree branch. Noble and majestic, he made for a striking sight against the rising sun.
Said sight was soon ruined by the blaring sound of trumpets.
Bagheera groaned as he put his paws over his ears; how that pompous pachyderm managed to be so loud was beyond him. Elephant or not, you’d think there would eventually be a volume limit. How did
He had to wonder how the rest of the jungle dealt with it; Baloo, he could see sleeping through that racket, but the apes?
…He suddenly had a strange mental image of simians with bananas stuffed in their ears, happily slumbering as pachyderms slipped about on peels.
…The fact that he was half-considering suggesting it the next time he saw them should speak volumes about how tired he was.
Finally giving up on sleep, Bagheera took a moment to stretch, and then leapt to another branch. The panther pounced from tree to tree, ‘til the trumpeting was far in the distance. The advantage of being able to climb trees was that few were able to follow; and most of those few were easily avoided. He had to admit, there was a certain appeal to feeling the wind in your fur, racing through the jungle without worry. He could see anything from up here, food, friends-
A GIANT SNAKE IN HIS FACE-
Bagheera yelped as he skidded to a stop, his hind paws slipping on the branch. The panther frantically tried to regain his perch, to no avail; he fell to the ground with a crash.
The snake snickered as he descended from above; finally, someone other than him fell for a change!
Bagheera arose with a groan as he glared at Kaa. He was glad the snake thought his surprise was so amusing; tell him, how was Kaa’s latest knot feeling?
Kaa returned his glare. Someone was certainly in a mood. And here he’d been, just wanting to catch up with an old friend!
Bagheera scoffed. He was fairly sure friendship ended when one friend tried to eat the other.
Kaa recoiled in offense. He hadn’t been going to eat Bagheera! Honestly, he doubted he would have had room after he’d eaten the Man-Cub.
The panther gave him a flat look. Forgive him if he didn’t exactly find that reassuring.
The python chuckled. Fair enough! So, anything on his mind?
Bagheera raised an eyebrow. He wasn’t going to ask him about Mowgli, or try to hypnotize him into some scheme to feed him to the snake?
Kaa shook his head. He’d given up on the Man-Cub some time ago; at this point, it was too much work for too little reward. And since Bagheera wasn’t in the way of his meal anymore, why not spend some quality time with him? He seemed like he could stand to relax a bit.
Bagheera sighed. He supposed the snake had a point. Between the apes and the Dawn Patrol, he had been feeling on edge lately. There were only so many nights you could have your sleep interrupted before it got old. How did Kaa deal with them?
The snake snickered. The apes knew to give him a wide berth, and as for Hathi, well…
How about he showed him?
Before the panther could react, the python pounced, and Bagheera found himself staring into the most beautiful colors he had ever seen. He tried to turn his head, to shut his eyes, but try as he might he couldn’t look away; the hypnotic spirals (and the tail around his neck) had too much of a hold. Swirl after swirl spun before his eyes, sweeping thought after thought out of sight and filling his head with soft, fuzzy bliss. Kaa moved his head, and Bagheera mimicked his movements, the panther swaying with the python. Kaa beckoned, backing away, and his mouth ajar, his pupils pinpricks, Bagheera obeyed. He followed the snake, barely aware of the stairway of coils he climbed; to the panther, all that existed, all that mattered was the snake and his colors. He knew he should stop, but for the life of him, he couldn’t think of why. Soothing hisses, relaxing rainbows; who wouldn’t want this heaven?
The snake’s tail poked his nose, and the panther halted in place. Another gesture, and Bagheera rose to two legs, a coil supporting his paws. Kaa twirled with his kitty, never breaking eye contact; Bagheera spun with a smile, every bit as fast as the spirals in his eyes. Coil after coil wrapped the panther, Bagheera shivering in delight as the snake’s body slid through his fur. Soon, he was up to his neck, and the two slowed to a stop.
That was when the real pleasure began.
Kaa’s coils caressed and compressed, and the cat was reduced to a moaning mess. The snake’s tail traced Bagheera’s body, a teasing touch that turned his muscles to jelly. His tongue flopping out as he happily panted and purred, the panther practically melted into his captor’s coils. He’d never felt so relaxed, so carefree, so good in all his life. Nothing could be better than this!
Bagheera was drooling by the time the snake began to speak, every word echoing in his mind. He was a good kitty, and he deserved to relax. He didn’t need to think or worry; his good friend Kaa would take care of that! He trusted his friend, listened to his friend; he trusted his friend to be his master. He would be his master’s pet, obeying any command, serving his every need, from food to entertainment. He loved his master, and his master loved him in return; he would live life as a good kitty with a head full of color and all the cuddles and relaxation he could ever ask for.
The panther had never nodded faster. Of course he’d be Master’s pet! He’d obey every command, be the best of kitties! He didn’t need thoughts; all he needed was Master!
A tug on his neck, and with a PING! Bagheera broke into the widest, dopiest grin of his life.
Kaa snickered as he lowered his purring pet to the ground. His tongue flopping from his drooling mouth, eyes swirling with color, tail and whiskers stiff as a board; Bagheera was quite the sight. He never thought he’d consider the panther cute and cuddly; it was amazing how much you could change with some color.
He hadn’t told a single lie. A bit of hypnotic suggestion was all it took to keep Hathi out of hearing range (he really wished he’d thought of that sooner), and as for the Man-Cub?
There were only so many hits to the head you could take before your prey stopped being worth the effort.
He’d occasionally linger around the village when he had the time; if he figured out how to make and use the Red Flower, he’d never have to worry about Shere Khan again. While he’d unfortunately made no progress there, he’d discovered a fascinating concept. Some animals lived alongside Man, willingly helping and obeying them, loving and being loved by them.
Pets.
How had the idea of a controllable companion never occurred to him? As a cub, he’d hypnotized other animals, had them do whatever he thought was funny, but he never thought to keep them. The idea of having an animal under his power, hunting, protecting, and doing anything for him, not a thought in their heads but of their master, his colors, and how good it all felt?
Something about it was just so appealing.
