Somewhere in future story continuity, Ralph - who's got more money than God - decides to fund a research and development project in return for the spoils of said project. (Which is being done by his girlfriend/wife's ex-boyfriend, but that's neither here nor there.) The purpose of said R&D is to gun for a government defense contract. They don't get the winning bid, but as promised Ralph ends up with the final product: two Dalek-voiced robotic velociraptors. Aptly named "Search" and "Destroy".
Search is the scout; he's pneumatic, smaller, leaner, and more nimble. In contrast, Destroy is the intimidator - he's hydraulic, thicker, heavier, and equipped with everything a robo-raptor might need to rip someone apart. They become Ralph's guard dogs, and incredibly effective ones at that; despite the fact that both are programmed to remain non-lethal unless instructed otherwise, they WERE originally conceived as weapons.
Both come fully loaded with HD cameras for eyes, hard drives large enough to store a week's worth of visual input, USB ports, bluetooth; everything an accessory needs to communicate with a computer. They can communicate silently with each other and vocally with the occupants of the house - the latter being broadcast through a speaker set installed in the back of their throats. (Their jaws don't move when they talk, though; they just sort of hang their mouths open. And because I know you were wondering - yes, you COULD effectively plug your iPod into one of them and force them to sing "Never Gonna Give You Up". But I'm not so sure you'd want to.)
The AI is most clever - they have the ability to learn, picking up whatever knowledge and traits they run into along the way. The downside is that this eventually leads to both of them developing a rather dry sense of 'humor' and rather snarky 'personalities'. (Nothing worse than trying to babysit your best friend's kids while two know-it-alls stand nearby and tell you every last thing you're doing wrong.)
... yes, I DO have a lot of free time on my hands, why do you ask? ;P
Anyhoos. Yes. Lineart will be scrapped once I color this. (I started to but OH that was on the flash drive that kicked the bucket... ugh.)
Search's pose is a Papo Raptor because that pose just looks SO neat in lineart. Destroy was drawn to purposely look stiff and non-organic but... idk, somehow it just looks WRONG. I'll figure it out eventually.
Search, Destroy, etc etc mine.
