Valmont... not the time.
Also, what in the heck did Drayven cough up? Some kinda bug...? I remain interested in what is going to happen in this comic, especially since Valmont, the person most heavily pegged as a villian with minions, seems to be deliberately attaching themselves -- and in a subordinate role, no less! -- to Drayven. But Valmont as magical attack dog? I can see that.
Also, what in the heck did Drayven cough up? Some kinda bug...? I remain interested in what is going to happen in this comic, especially since Valmont, the person most heavily pegged as a villian with minions, seems to be deliberately attaching themselves -- and in a subordinate role, no less! -- to Drayven. But Valmont as magical attack dog? I can see that.
Nope, it was a manifestation of a disease he has called the "withering" it's very rare and is worsened by stress. As some characters have magical gifts that give them super powers, sometimes those things mutate and become more of a curse that only does harm.
It's like a freaky rash!
As for Valmont, indeed he can have lots of minions but is also insanely lonesome and desperate for any kind of bond. Sort of an unhealthy obsession at this point.. with very poor social skills.. lol. Val is just saying whatever he can to appease Drayven.

And he has a daddy that seems obsessed with his legacy if by legacy it is said to mean expanding borders. And so all the money that could be used toward curing or treating his own son's condition is being pushed towards wars of choice. Plus, the father is just enough of a dick so that when he dies, the nation itself will have no friends because the father seems to think diplomacy is a thing that weaklings do.
Also Valmont seems destined to screw something up because of what they (he?) thought Drayven would want them to do. And/or will buck at the bit, so to speak, after Drayven consents to keeping him around in some capacity.
