Fire is usually a good way to ensure death. Or to make sure things stay dead. Supernatural or not, most things don't like being on fire. And it's kinda hard for ashes to bite you.
If you're extra paranoid, dissolve the ashes in acid. Only very powerful magic could bring you back then, and you'd never be the same afterward.

Like, the virtues of the triforce are kinda lifted from Christianity.
