Morgana hummed a soft, quiet tune under her breath as she adjusted the straw hat atop her head and held her wicker basket in a firm grip, feeling the warm, breeze ruffle her fur as she walked alongside the fields where her garden lay on a sunny June morning. Her strawberry plants had looked about ready to start producing fruit a couple weeks ago, and now they were surely about ready to be harvested now! This was definitely one of her favorite times of the year, strawberry picking season was surely in full swing on the local farms and freshly grown berries would be on sale all over the markets in due time. Morgana herself had been growing them in her own garden for about three to four years now as she liked having freshly grown fruits and veggies for cooking, and the strawberries this year were sure to be especially ripe, juicy, and sweet since the plants had had plenty of time to mature.
Her thick leather boots tramping lightly against the ground as she walked among her fields, she could already see the large, ruby red, jewel-like shapes of fully grown strawberries sticking out from among the pale white of the numerous flowering blossoms that would eventually mature into more fruits themselves. The low, humming drone of bumblebees filled the air and tickled the rabbit woman’s sensitive ears, a smile crossing her face as the little insects were busy at work gathering nectar from the strawberry blossoms and helping to pollinate them as well. With their help, her everbearing plants should continue to produce more and more berries well into the midsummer till the early fall until it grew too cold for them. And until then, she’d absolutely make the most use of this harvest, there’d surely be enough to last her until the next one as she bent down next to one of her plants.
Reaching out with her slender, delicate looking fingers, Morgana began plucking the large red berries from their stems and tossing them into her basket one by one. Every now and again, the rabbit would pop a couple of the freshly picked fruits in her mouth, chewing them thoughtfully and savoring their sweet, ever so slightly tangy and sour flavor. Already the gears in her mind were starting to whir, some thoughts immediately springing to mind on what she’d make out of these… Strawberry jams and jellies, strawberry butter, strawberry honey, strawberry syrup, and all sorts of baked goods from crostatas to tarts to shortcakes and everything in between. Lenore always appreciated having some fresh, homegrown ingredients to use in her recipes, and knowing how much the girl absolutely loved to bake she’d have a field day with these for sure. Hell, Morgana might just try her hand at making some homemade strawberry wine if she could gather up a nice big bunch of them…
She’d spend the entirety of the morning out in those fields, wicker basket growing heavier and heavier as she gathered a good-sized haul of ripe strawberries and tossed away those with any noticeable blemishes or had been clearly eaten at by bugs. By the time Morgana finished, the basket was filled nearly to the brim with bright red berries as she headed back towards the house with a bit of a cheery bounce in her step and a small, pleased smile on her face. They still had at least a few stalks of rhubarb leftover from a week ago stored in the freezer, as she recalled.
Perhaps it wouldn’t be too difficult to ‘convince’ Lenore into making one of her delicious, made-from-scratch pies to have for dessert tonight…
A wonderful YCH art piece once again featuring my precious rabbit lady, Dr. Morgana Hargraves, preparing to harvest some strawberries from the fields in her home garden! Anybody up for some shortcake later?
This lovely art was done by the ever-so-lovely
TsundereWitch! I was admittedly quite impressed at how beautiful this piece turned out, they really flexed their background skills quite a bit for this one! Needless to say, the level of detail is likely a bit outside of what they usually do, but it came out so nicely in the end! Thank you so much again for this!! <333

“Well as they say, treat others as you yourself wish to be treated, no? Please do make yourself at home, dear. I only ask that you leave your shoes by the door, if you’d be so kind. Also fair warning, I hope you’re not scared of or allergic to cats, aha~” - Dr. Morgana Hargraves
Oh of course! Both Morgana and Senna share an avid love for gardening and horticulture. Which is probably to be expected, since the two of them are expert alchemists in their own rights and also love having fresh produce for cooking. And maybe Morgana knows so much about this sort of stuff because she’s spent years learning from a master who knows pretty much everything there is to know about all kinds of plants, like Senna… but you didn’t hear it from me.
Morgana grows all kinds of flora in her garden, fruits, veggies, herbs, spices, flowers, and she owns a small orchard as well. And yes, she does indeed grow various different plants for alchemical uses, in her primary garden, maybe even around her house, and also in a greenhouse that’s specially dedicated for cultivating alchemy ingredients year-round. Always good to be able to have some on hand no matter the season, eh?
